The Suburban Club in Pikesville, Md., founded in 1890, is one of the oldest clubs in the Baltimore area. Tennis has been a big part of the club’s activities since the early 1900s.

The tennis complex has 19 Har-Tru courts and two hardcourts. Four of the Har-Tru courts are bubbled in the winter months. A large, contemporary tennis pro shop is open year-round. The Suburban Club’s Charles Van Middlesworth, director of tennis, and Tom Jacobson, tennis professional, are both USPTA members.

The club has hosted the Greater Baltimore Men’s Singles Championships for more than 75 years. The club also hosted the National Intercollegiate Clay Court Championship from 1995 until its elimination in 2000.
